Obstetric Medicine is an established sub-speciality in a number of high income countries. SOOMSA aims to make South Africa the first low to middle income country with a formal training program in Obstetric Medicine. This society creates a workspace for all individuals interested in Obstetric Medicine to share experience, research and ideas.

SOOMSA aims to provide academic support, training, and the establishment of guidelines for comprehensive and holistic peripartum medicine.

We welcome all physicians, obstetricians, anaesthetists and midwives with a special interest in obstetric medicine to join SOOMSA. We look forward to hosting regular on-line and in person meetings to create awareness of obstetric medicine.
